First of all, congrats to everyone in the final stages of this tedious and frustrating process.
I have a question for people who filed I-140 and I-485 concurrently and got their receipt numbers.
I have gotten receipt numbers for my concurrently filed I-485 and I-765 as I paid for them (PD April 2003, I-140/I-485 filed at NSC). I do not have receipt for I-140 after more than 2 weeks. My employer is not giving me receipt number for I-140 as he may be wanting more money from me. Now, I have read in a forum that I-140 when applied concurrently should have receipt number very close to I-485 receipt number and normally I-140 receipt number is less than I-485 receipt number (i.e. if I-485's last four digits are 4600 then last 4 for I-140 number will be lower than 4600 and close to it. So, in theory I can scan numbers prior to mine and find closer ones for the same date and track them.
If you can please check your numbers and tell me if your I-140 number is before your I-485 number and how close they are to each other, I would really appreciate it.

Few SSA offices do allow to submit application for SSN few days before 10/01. But few of them donot allow and suggests to come on or after 10/01.
So just give a try. But request them if they were able to find your information in the system. Few offices, though they donot find in the system, they take the application but few of them say that they could not find the information in the system and will suggest to come back again.

If you are on H-1, you cannot apply for L-1. You would have to work for a company outside the US for a period of 1 year before you can apply for a L-1 assuming you are in the US currently.

I almost always shoot in RAW unless I need high speed, but I know that I was getting 6 frames in the buffer with RAW - for at least the first 2 years.

I have traveled many times on AP and not once was I asked about EAD/797. That said, there is no strict rules. Maybe you can keep a copy of the above documents and explain why you lost the originals.

This question is implying that the stay for the children to go to school in canada would only be a month or so, not more than six months - so does anyone know if there's a risk in messing up the green cards while the family waits a month in canada while waiting for the next destination.

CIS is bound by law to not accept early AOS applications. It depends on State published visa dates. So if we can work with State dept to have them publish the dates for Visa posts for CP as they do today (Which is faster) and add CIS processing delay to the Dates and publish second set of dates for AOS which always be atleast 2 years or more added to current dates published by State.
This gives chance to people, who missed their chance to file in AOS in 2007 July. They can atleast get benefits of AC21 in this tough economy.

Could you please pm us the IP address of your machine. It will help us to diagnose the problem and/or let you know the reason. Its possible that your work environment is using NATing. Sure. You need to work outside the US for the sponsoring company in a managerial capacity for 1 out of the 3 years prior to filing the I140. So if you are on a H1B and are a manager, you can sign up for an assignment abroad to fulfill that requirement.

Hey people , i need help. as EB-3 is current , my spouse who is on H4 ,applied for change of status(H-4 to F-1) ,so can i file her papers along wth mine in I-485 or not? change of status is in process.

If you can then retract her COS application and include her in 485. But I am not sure how you would go about donig that. Check with attorney.

my husband concurently file I-140 and I-485 (along with EAD and AP) on 22nd June 2007. We got our I-140 approved on 30th August. I have two questions
1. When can i expect my EAD ?
2. Is there any rule that i shud start working within some stipulated time after getting my EAD or i can take my own time ?
1. it should take another week or 10 days...
2. you could start when you want....
